I don't use my Jott...

I don't use my Jott account daily as much as I use to when I lived in Licoln and drove to Omaha. It feels good to use it a little bit more now.

On the subject of graphic...

On the subject of graphic design, here is a rule. You are always branding. This means everything you do says something about you from the way you dress, from the web site that you create to promote yourself, the way you talk, you attitude, the way you greet people, the people you choose to be friends with, the car you drive, where you live, how you decorate your home, everything says something about you and people you meet will make an impression in their minds as to what kind of a person you are based on the way that you choose to present yourself. Like it or not, this is what branding is and it goes for companies as well, particularly in the way that companies treat their customers. Some corporations would like to think that branding is all about logo design and corporate colors but they are always branding particularly when they mistreat their customers or treat them well.

Here is a rule for all...

Here is a rule for all of you designers out there. Design does not and can't not happen in a vacuum. Surround yourself with design. Design books. good designs, samples from designers you know are very experienced and talented. Look at the colors they use to lay out, and what works and what doesn't especially how it relates to you. If you do this I guarantee that you will soon become excited especially when you consider that you can use this designer's idea in you own portfolio in your own website, in a business card for yourself, or anything to promote you. Learn from the other designers, and see what they do. It's the best way to incorporate their ideas into your own design. listen

I want to re-emphasize...

I want to re-emphasize this point on networking because it can't be emphasized enough, you do not know who that next important contact is going to be, for that reason you need to meet, greet and be around as many as possible, do not pick and choose who you should focus on because you don't know where the next contact is going to be instead why don't you enjoy being around these people and appreciating them for ___ being human beings rather than contacts for that next job. What will always happen is that the person who pays off the most is one you never expected who be there. listen

Here is a rule about...

Here is a rule about job searching, the best networking you do is going to be done when you don't know it. The person who will find you that great new job is not someone you bump into ____ thinking here's someone with whom I can network. No, the person who's going to get you that great job is going to be someone you bump into a church, meeted a swing dance or bump into at a bar where there happen to be other graphic designers. In other words meet and greet as many people as you can, not because you think they might lead you to a job, but just because you're interested in them. You never know what it would pay off and that is the key. listen

I've discovered something...

I've discovered something about the job you have. The job you have is not something like sales or graphic designer, you have to realize where your passion is. Are you in sales because you believe in a great product? Or are you in sales because you like getting a commission? Are you a graphic designer because you enjoy art? Or are you a graphic designer because you are promoting a product that you believe in? That is were your true passion lies, is it in sales, money, art? Or is it because you are supporting a product or a service or a philosophy that you really, truly wants to be a part of? listen

On Friday, Vivian and...

On Friday, Vivian and I went to Popeye's to try out gizzards. I've never had gizzards before and wouldn't quite sure how I would like them but they were okay. They tasted like dark beet chicken and were quite tender. They were also pretty greasy though and I don't think I'll have them again at least not without some sort of vegetables to balance everything out. listen

This is still a test. Hello everybody, this is Matt Johnathan blogging for the first time with my Bluetooth device. I'm having fun with it, but the sound is pretty darn crappy. I probably shouldn't have gotten this from radio shack when I bought my phone without testing it first. listen

For those of you interested...

For those of you interested in speed tracks on Interstate 80, between Lincoln and Omaha, I can tell you there are pretty much two places where the cops like to hang out. The first is in Lincoln, around the 27th Street exit. They like this spot because the speed limit goes from 65 miles per hour down to 55 and this makes it easier for them to catch speeders and write tickets. Another profitable spot for the fuss, is right after you cross the river when heading east to Omaha. They like that spot too. listen

The weather is warming up. The sun is shining and my wedding day is approaching all too quickly. I am looking forward to it though particularly the week after but it certainly would be nice to be settled and living in Omaha pretty soon, everybody keep praying for that. listen

Well, I made it through...

Well, I made it through another week. This weekend is looking really nice. There will be sunny, the weather will be much warmer than is was today, and I'm going to spend the weekend in Cedar Rapids with Vivian. Visiting my uncle Ben, who is going to be performing the ceremony at our wedding. It should be fun. Tonight though, I'm going to Omaha to dance and also attend a party with some friends. You'll see some pictures of course. Stay tuned. listen

It looks like gas prices...

It looks like gas prices have spiked again just in time when my trip to Cida Rapids next weekend. I'm looking around at the stations here in Lincoln and it's $3.45 a gallon, another record high. I don't know exactly why this is happening. Now I think I'm going to vote for McCain just because he is the only candidate to mention that there is a problem like this. I wouldn't mind having the gas pipe line suspended right about now. listen

I went on a date with...

I went on a date with Vivian on Thursday night. For you married couples, a date is when a guy and a girl go out to dinner together, instead of sitting at home watching The Office or Grace Anatomy. We had a great time even though the restaurant we found didn't have the best food.

I had a great time,...

I had a great time, out with the gang from work last night and now I'm trying to drive in Linken, where they perpetually close all roads in midst of rain and apparently tomorrow snow. I don't know what it is, but here on 10th Street, they've decided to put up more road destruction at closing lanes with orange barrels and flushing signs. Linken just loves to do this kind of stuff. listen

I'm heading back to...

I'm heading back to work after a nice relaxing lunch. Today and tomorrow, I'm going to be having some fun in the evening. Tonight, I will be having drinks with coworkers after work. It's always fun to do that because after a few drinks the sun is gotta little loose and then I get to hear about all the inside dirt(?) at the office. Tomorrow, I'm going on another halfway date with Vivian. I'm not sure where we're going to go yet but I'm sure I will find something between here and Omaha. That would be fun. listen

I'm pretty sure my addiction...

I'm pretty sure my addiction to jott.com has n=been confirmed by Sprint, now that I've pretty much gone over my monthly limit of minutes for the first time ever. I have 450 minutes on my plan and learned yesterday that I had used up 447 of them. I had to buy 100 emergency minutes just to make sure I could make a few calls this week. The weather's turned miserable again but I'm still feeling thew Buzz of a wonderful weekend with Vivian. I'm curious to know if anybody is reading this little blog. Jott me a note of you do. listen

I just headed on in...

I just headed on in to Omaha to see Vivian and enjoy another night at Jitterbugs' Night Out. It's times like this when I have a nice weekend to which I could look forward, that I sit back and simply savor those minutes of anticipation before I can enjoy it all. Look forward to some pictures and new entries in my blog on Monday, folks. My really blog, not this quicky one. listen

Does anybody else remember...

Does anybody else remember the days when gasoline was a $1.39. I do. That was just a couple of years ago. What on earth happened? I would sure like to know because nobody can seem to explain it, particular those idiots running for president. Seriously, I would vote for anybody who would at least try to bring gas prices down other than suggest we use fuel that doesn't exist yet or simply drive left. Driving left isn't exactly an option at the moment. listen

I love Friday! The end...

I love Friday! The end of the week and something to look forward to tonight. Jaderborg's (?) night out. I didn't go last week and I'm very eager to go dancing again. Tomorrow we also have that ice skating thing being put on by Jim, but I'll try not to break a knee cap or something while in out there, sliding around trying to stay upright. I'm sure it'll be fun just so long that I don't want to be at the hospital. listen

I just got done with...

I just got done with Bible Study and boy, the treats they bring sometimes can be deadly. Alisa made this delicious brownie peanut butter rice crispy marshmallows stuff. They gave me such a sugar spike for about five minutes. And now I said, I'm driving home, I'm about ready to pass out. Next time I should just eat a steak and let the Perkin(?) carry me to the rest of the day. listen

Good news everybody!...

Good news everybody! It looks like Vivian will be able to update her blog once more. Last night, after our very romantic date, I got her signed up with with a Jott.com account. Now she can update her blog just by calling in on her cellphone and talking, like I am right now. I'm looking forward to seeing what she has to say on her blog now. Congratulations Vivian. listen

I had a wonderful time...

I had a wonderful time tonight with Vivian. We both went out to HuHott and got to have our fill of Stir-Fry. They had all sorts of things on a Buffet Style Table and we got to choose different Sauces, Meats, and Ingredients that they fried up right there. We got our fill and then stayed a little while longer just talking and gazing romantically into each other's eyes. It was a wonderful date night, especially for a Wednesday. listen

I'm rolling into Omaha right now. It's 58 degrees, and I just had a thought on the drive, up here on I-80. Everything in Nebraska is right now is brown. Brown twiggy trees, brown and beige grass. I'm longing to see some green around here. Spring just can't came too soon. Now the snow is gone. lets bring on the green. listen

I think I am addicted to Jott.com now, and I'm going to have to be careful not to start filling up my account with nonsense ramblings. I'm about to go to sleep....

I'm about to go to sleep. I'm lying in bed right now, it's dark, my eyes are closed, and I'm adding an entry to my blog. This has got to be one of the lamest posts I've ever made in my entire life, but I have to admit the geek inside of me is getting a kick out of doing this. I've got a big day tomorrow, a date with my lovely fiancée Vivian. I'm looking forward to that. Sweet dreams everybody.

You know something?...

You know something? I could really get use to this nice weather. Holy cow, I can actually enjoy being outside again. It isn't too hot and it isn't too cold, it's just about right. Before it gets too hot, I should enjoy being outside a little bit. Maybe I should ride my bike. It has been sitting in my living room collecting dust for the last year or so.

Hello everybody,

Hello everybody,
This is Matt Johnson with a new blog here, and I've decided to do something a little different this time. You see I do a lot of driving between Lincoln and Omaha, so I have a lot of time on my hands when I can only talk with the cell phone, so that's what this blog is going to be. That's right, I'm using jott.com to use this, to post things to the Internet and annoy all of you guys when I should be paying attention to the road. Have fun.
